Megan Pete, a US rapper and actress, has opened up on how she was arrested for losing her temper after finding out her former boyfriend had a child with another woman.
On Tuesday, a 2015 mugshot of the ‘Hot Girl Summer’ crooner, which was widely believed to have been taken by the police when she was arrested some years back, went viral on social media.
Taking to a live Instagram session to speak on the matter, the 24-year-old rapper, better known as Megan Thee Stallion, said she was jailed for two days in 2015 for “punching” her boyfriend after discovering he cheated on her during a concert.
According to her, the police had showed up when she was retaliating her boyfriend’s hit and were more convinced she was the aggressor after she hedged that her man didn’t lay hands on her.
“I saw my ugly ass mugshot,” Megan said while laughing.
“So, I was maybe 19 or 20. I was in college and I had a real beautiful, toxic relationship. It was fun, but it was bad. I was at SXSW and my boyfriend at the time — I had just found out that this n***a had a baby at the damn concert.”
“Like, what a way for a b***h to find out your n***a cheated on you and had a baby… I was so mad, and you gotta know, my temper is bad.
“And the baby had been born — like the baby was here. The baby was damn-near one.”
She added that she wanted leaving the relationship but “my boyfriend at the time was not trying to see me go.”
“It was toxic. It was fun at the time, but it was very toxic. But I was young and I thought that toxic was cute, but it’s not! Don’t let a n***a put hands on you. And don’t put your hands on no n***a,” Megan warned.
“I was really trying to keep the peace because we were in a public environment. But he began pulling and pushing me.
“Then, I was ready to give it to him but the police pull up when I’m punching and I looked like the aggressor. I looked rough, my weave was to the side, my shirt jacked up, my pants dirty.
“Because he’s been pushing me! I say, ‘No officer, he didn’t hit me,’ because I didn’t want him to go to jail! The laws asked that n***a if I hit him and he said, ‘Yeah! She hit me in the eye.’”
Davido, Nigerian singer, had last year caused hysteria among fans after he showed reluctance to dance with the US vocalist.
