MealsForAll, a food for education program, plans to feed 5,000 children in Ajeromi local government area of Lagos during the yuletide.
According to Funke Sodade, founder of the initiative, “MealsForAll Food-For-Education Program is an off-shoot of the findings of my post-graduate research titled ‘Nutritional Intervention as Correlates of Cognitive Functions in School Age Children’ in Somolu local government area of Lagos state.
“The research clearly highlighted the nexus between the cognitive development of children and good nutrition.
“MealsForAll seeks to provide support for the alleviation of hunger and malnutrition in Nigeria. The primary goal is to ensure that hunger is not an obstacle to child development.
“Our Food-For-Education program aims to invest in human capital through nutrition, health and education.”
The event which is themed ‘Arise O Compatriots’ is scheduled to hold on December 13. It will also feature games, motivational talk, arts and crafts activities, dance, music, and take-home rations for parents.
Since its inception in 2012, MealsForAll has provided about 20,000 meals to hundreds of primary school children from underprivileged backgrounds within Lagos state.
