Indie Vibe House Party (IVHP), a concert spotlighting independent artistes, has launched in Lagos.
The organisers of the mini-concert announced this in a statement made available to TheCable Lifestyle.
IVHP, they said, is targeted at giving a platform to largely independent Nigerian music artists at exclusive gatherings featuring performances from popular indie acts.
It said Nigeria’s emerging music talents need discovery opportunities if they will benefit from streaming revenues that neared $100m in 2021.
The organisers said IVHP will foster collaborations that will aid the growth of the indie music ecosystem in Nigeria.
The first edition of the mini-concert, it is understood, will take place in Lagos on August 19, 2022.
A lineup of talent including the Mavin signee Boy Spyce will perform at the inaugural edition.
Virtual town halls, feedback sessions, and activities fostering collaboration will hold in the lead-up to the event.
“This lineup will be backed by other indie musicians who have been carefully curated to give guests the experience of enjoying music in a catered, laid-back setting,” the organisers added.
In 2021, Nigeria’s music streaming revenues were close to $100 million as Afrobeats continues to make significant inroads into the world of music.
Nigeria, the country that has become synonymous with the genre, has a sizable lead over nations like South Africa, Morocco, and Kenya.
However, a greater deal of most of the revenue coming to Nigerian artistes go to well-known acts like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, and Davido, among others.
