The streaming platform broke the news in a statement via its website on Tuesday.

Showmax said the series — titled ‘I am Laycon’ — would showcase the singer’s journey after the reality show as he settles into his new-found life as a TV star while juggling his personal relationships and growing music career in one of Africa’s biggest cities.

The South Africa-based SVOD also said the series is billed to premiere exclusively on its platform in February 2021.

“…when the housemates had to nominate who would be voted out every week. And, of course, the big finale where Laycon took home the biggest prize in Big Brother Naija history!”

Reacting to the announcement, Laycon took to his Twitter handle to share a video of himself preparing for a shoot.

“I’m excited to announce to you that, Showmax and I, have started shooting the first Nigerian Showmax Original reality series: I am LAYCON! Trust me when I say this, it’s going to be massive. 2021 is about to be lit!” he said.

At a tender age, Laycon had begun rapping and writing songs. In 2014, he was among ten artistes that performed at the 2014 Coke Studio, University of Lagos, event. He was a top ten finalist for the 2017 MTV Base LSB challenge.

Laycon signed to Fierce Nation, a record label, in 2019. In the same year, he released ‘Fierce’ a track featuring Chinko Ekun and Reminisce, from his second EP. He would later win BBNaija’s N85 million prize for the year 2020.
