The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, has announced a reduction in the institution’s tuition.
It had earlier been announced that students who are indigenes of Oyo and Osun states will pay N200,000 while non-indigenes will pay N250,000 effective from the 2018/19 session.
Students of the institution had opposed the tuition hike with simultaneous protests in Ogbomosho and Osogbo.
In a statement released on Friday and signed by J.A. Agboola, its registrar, the university said its governing council and stakeholders have reached a middle ground.
“This is to inform all students that after an extensive and exhaustive consultations with stakeholders, the Governing Council has magnanimously directed that the tuition fees payable by all students with effect from the 2018/2019 Academic Session be reviewed as follow,” the statement read.
“Indigenes of the Owner-States of Oyo and Osun (100-500-Level): N140,000.00 per session. Non-indigenes (100-500-Level) : N170,000.00 per session.”
The registrar also noted that the new tuition fee will be effective by 2018/2019 Academic Session.
The school is scheduled to resume by Monday, October 29, 2018.
