The management of the university had announced that students and staff of the varsity should resume on Monday, September 18 but the news had elicited a negative reaction from the striking staff members who said they were unaware of the development.

Saraki, via his Twitter page on Wednesday, said the imminent resumption of academic activities was due to the intervention of his office during a meeting held with the aggrieved lecturers.

He wrote: “Glad that after our intervention, students will be returning back to school. Kudos to the and !”

LAUTECH, owned by Osun and Oyo states, has been closed down multiple times in 2017 over the non-payment of staff’s salaries and allowances.

The alumni of LAUTECH had in June set up a crowdfunding initiative to raise N1 billion within 90 days to be used in solving the financial problems of the institution.
