L.A.X, the Nigerian singer, has revealed that Wizkid advised him against rushing to establish his music label.

L.A.X signed with Starboy Entertainment in 2013, after releasing the hit track ‘Caro’ featuring Wizkid. However, a few years later, he left the label to start his own outfit, Rasaki.

At the time, rumours swirled about a fallout between L.A.X and Wizkid.

The singer, however, set the record straight in a recent interview on WithChude podcast. He revealed that he had discussed his plans with Wizkid during a trip to Malaysia.

He said he told Wizkid about his desire to start his own label, but the ‘Made In Lagos’ hitmaker cautioned him against making a hasty decision.

L.A.X said Wizkid advised him to release a few more songs under both Rasaki and Starboy Entertainment to avoid giving the public the impression that they had a rift.

“At the time I decided to build, I knew that I needed to do it again. I felt like I needed to make all the decisions alone. Nobody was going to tell me no. I just called Wiz. We had a show in Malaysia,” he said.

“And I sat down with him and was like ‘My boss, I really want to do this alone. I think I want to start my label. He said ‘If you go now and say you want to start your label. It is not that I do not want you to go but the world is going to say me and you fought.

“So let us not do it like that. Let us drop a couple more songs under the label. And now start talking about your label’.

“That is why in most videos now, it had StarBoy Razaki. We did that for like my next three songs. So, now you can leave. They have seen both of us working together even while you are doing your own thing.”

L.A.X, whose real name is Damilola Rasak Afolabi, has enjoyed a successful music career, with hits like ‘Jaye,’ ‘Caro,’ ‘Ole,’ and ‘Go Low’.
