Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, entrepreneur Mike Dada, producer Joseph Edgar, and creative advocate Mary Ephraim-Egbas are set to feature as panelists at the upcoming QEDNG creative powerhouse summit.

The event, organised by Mighty Media Plus Network Limited, publishers of QEDNG, is scheduled to hold on August 12, at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

The summit, themed “Financing as Catalyst for a Thriving Creative Economy”, aims to explore new ways to fund and scale Nigeria’s creative sector.

The event is expected to bring together industry leaders, policymakers, artists, filmmakers, musicians, designers, advertisers, and financial institutions.

Steve Ayorinde, journalist and former Lagos commissioner for tourism, arts and culture, will moderate the panel.

Udeme Ufot, group managing director of SO&U, will chair the summit, while Nkiru Balonwu, founder of The Africa Soft Power Group, will deliver the keynote address.

Speaking on the panelists, Olumide Iyanda, CEO of Mighty Media Plus and summit convener, said they reflect the depth and potential of Africa’s creative industries.

“These are professionals who have successfully built careers in film, music, theatre, events, marketing and brand management,” Iyanda said.

“They understand the struggles and opportunities in the creative space. We are bringing them together to share lessons, offer practical solutions and inspire action. With Ayorinde moderating, this promises to be a meaningful and engaging conversation.”

Kunle Afolayan, founder of KAP Hub and KAP Film Village and Resort in Oyo, is known for films like ‘The Figurine’, ‘October 1’, ‘Citation’, and ‘Anikulapo’.

Mike Dada, founder of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), has led efforts to promote African music globally in collaboration with the African Union. He also heads PRM Africa, a PR and event firm.

Edgar, popularly known as The Duke of Shomolu, is an investment banker turned theatre producer. His stage works, including ‘Aremu and Bianca’, celebrate Nigerian history and culture.

Ephraim-Egbas, CEO of Okhma Global and founder of the Africa Film Finance Forum (AFFF) works to connect filmmakers with investors.

She also leads the SERAS Africa CSR/Sustainability Awards and runs initiatives across branding, event production and film development.

Iyanda had earlier revealed that the conference is designed to bridge gaps, provide resources, and empower stakeholders to drive transformative change, aligning with “QEDNG’s mission to support Nigeria’s cultural and economic development”.
