Korede Bello, the Nigerian singer, says he does not know what it means to be depressed.

In an interview with TheCable Lifestyle, the singer said although he advocates for mental health, he has never experienced depression.

He added that when he goes through “waves of emotion”, he protects his internal environment.

“I advocate for mental health but I don’t know what depression is,” he said.

“When I say I don’t know what depression is doesn’t mean I don’t know what the theoretical definition is. I don’t know what it means to say I’m depressed.

“I know that there are times when I go through some waves of emotion, I just try to protect my internal environment as much as I can.

“There will be times where obviously things do not go as you expect. I’m proactive with my mental health so I don’t let myself get to that place because it probably will be really bad if I ever get there.”

In November 2022, the music star opened up about how he handles pressure from fans.

Bello said he understands the pressure stems from the need to put out new music.

He added that sometimes, there is the need to take a break and “prioritise my health”.

Bello has etched his name among the popular figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

He was signed to the Mavin Records, a music label owned by Don Jazzy, in 2014

He started to amass a huge fanbase after dropping ‘Godwin,’ his hit single, in January 2015.

The singer came through with his debut album titled ‘Beloved’ in 2017.

He has also won a plethora of awards and recognitions.

In 2019, he left Mavin Records.

He currently has a deal with ONErpm, a digital distribution service platform.
