Kodak Black, the US rapper, was on Thursday arrested in South Florida on “charges of possessing cocaine”.
According to AP, the Broward county jail listed the rapper, born Bill Kapri, as one of its inmates on Thursday.
The jail records showed Black was charged by the plantation police with improperly “stopping or parking his vehicle, cocaine possession, and tampering with evidence”.
A police officer saw a black Bentley SUV parked in the roadway in the 600 block of Northwest 47th Terrace.
When the officer approached the SUV, Black was said to have been asleep in the driver’s seat. It was said that “a strong odor of burnt cannabis” was coming from the vehicle.
“The officer opened the SUV’s door and shut it off. Inside was a cup in the door that smelled of alcohol, along with cannabis wrapping paper and suspect cannabis residue in the center console,” a police arrest report added.
NBC Miami, however, reported that the rapper was released from police custody on Thursday night.
This is not the first time Black would be having issues with the police.
The rapper was apprehended in 2022 on charges of trafficking oxycodone and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
He was, however, released on a $75,000 bond. Regular drug testing was a condition of his release.
In January 2021, Donald Trump, on his final full day in office as US president, granted pardons and commutations to Black and a hundred others.
Kapri had been sentenced to more than three years in prison in November 2019 after pleading guilty to a firearms possession charge.
The 26-year-old singer gained initial recognition following the release of his 2014 song ‘No Flockin’.
