In July 2022, the rapper was diagnosed with kidney failure, prompting him to publicly seek financial support.

TheCable Lifestyle reported how Yetunde Abdulkareem, the rapper’s wife, donated her kidney to him.

Eedris, after his successful surgery,  released a song to thank his wife for her “support” and “compassion”.

The singer also blamed his “ignorance and failure”, admitting that he didn’t use to go for regular medical checkups.

“At first, it was fear and anxiety when I was told my kidney was failing. I felt like my body had failed me. But I knew I took it for granted. I wasn’t going for regular checkups. Ignorance and carelessness are messed up,” Eedris raps in the song.

“Then I started thinking about my children and the thought of my beautiful wife. She told me I must focus on the dialysis and seek God for mercy. She reached out to a couple of friends who had been through the same problem.

“After so many consultations, they said Nicholas Hospital was the destination. We were told the best option was a kidney transplant. I asked if the hospital can get me a donor. They said I have to bring mine from a family member.

“My wife asked to be a donor to her husband. The doctor said if we were compatible, she could be a donor.

“I was so shocked. I couldn’t even say a word. With her sacrifice, she gave me new hope. Brothers and sisters, it’s time to wake up. Health is wealth. Go for your checkup.

“Sekinat, I don’t know how to thank you. But I want you to know that I love you.”
