‘One Woman One Bra’ has been officially selected for the 2025 Venice International Film Festival, marking the first-ever Nigerian-Kenyan co-production to screen at the prestigious event.
The film has been included in the lineup for the festival’s 82nd edition, scheduled to run from August 27 to September 6, 2025.
The historic project is written and directed by Kenyan filmmaker Vincho Nchogu and produced by Nigerian Josh Olaoluwa, with cinematography by Nigeria’s Muhammad Atta Ahmed.
The production itself is a pan-African endeavor, shot entirely in Kenya because, as the producers noted, the story demanded it.
The collaboration makes it a significant cultural milestone, blending Nigerian and Kenyan creative talents.
Producer Josh Olaoluwa expressed excitement and honour at the nomination.
“This is such an honor for me because the Venice Film Festival is one of the most prestigious festivals in the world, and being the first Nigerian to premiere a feature film there is something I do not take for granted,” he said.
He also elaborated on the cross-border collaboration and highlighted the successful partnership as a blueprint for the future of African filmmaking.
“The Film was developed in Italy by my amazing Writer/Director Vincho Nchogu who is Kenyan,” he added.
“We shot the entire film in Kenya, because that was what the story required and it was such an humbling experience for me, moving to Kenya for three full months to produce the film.
“It was also shot by prolific Nigerian Cinematographer Muhammad Atta Ahmed, so it was a great collaborative experience between the Kenyan and Nigerian crew on the project. It also shows what is possible if we unite as a continent and collaborate more.”
