Kelly Preston, the wife of John Travolta, an American actor-cum singer, is dead at 57 after battling breast cancer for two years.
Travolta, 66, broke the tragic news in a statement via his Instagram page, noting that she passed away while on admission to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, a facility deemed the largest in the US.
It is understood that the actress breathed her last on Sunday.
“It’s with a heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many,” he wrote.
“My family will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, and her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side.
“Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.”
Preston and Travolta were married since 1991. She is survived by her husband and their two children — Benjamin, 9, and Ella, 20.
The couple had another son — Jett — who died at the age of 16 in January 2009 from a seizure during a family holiday in the Bahamas.
