Kate Henshaw, the Nollywood actress, has been elected as the national public relations officer (PRO) of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

The film star was elected unopposed on Monday, during a bye-election at a national executive council special meeting.

Abubakar Yakubu, the national secretary of AGN, disclosed this on Tuesday in Lagos.

“Henshaw will be in charge of disseminating strategic communication among guild and non-guild members,” he said.

The renowned actress was appointed as the national PRO, succeeding Monalisa Chinda who had held the position in the past years.

“Also in the same bye-election Michael Yusuf Michael MYM defeated Rilwan Ibiefo to become the Vice President of Actors Guild of Nigeria North West zone replacing Alhaji Wash Waziri Hong who occupied the position in the last tenure,” the statement reads in part.

“Kate Henshaw will be in charge of disseminating strategic communication among Guild and non-Guild members.”

The TV star, who turned 51 in 2022, ventured into the movie industry over two and a half decades ago.

Henshaw was shot into the limelight for her role in the 1993 movie ‘When the Sun Sets’.

The fitness enthusiast has established herself as a prominent name in the Nigerian movie industry, with numerous awards and recognition to her credit.
