American rapper, Kanye West, and his reality television star wife, Kim Kardashian, have welcomed their third child through surrogacy.
The couple used a surrogate for their child because Kardashian has placenta accreta, a life-threatening condition that created serious complications during the birth of Saint, her second child.
The newborn, a baby girl, was born on Monday.
Kim announced the birth of the baby in a statement released on Tuesday.
“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl,” she wrote.
“We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care.
“North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”
Kim and Kanye reportedly agreed to pay the surrogate $45,000 in monthly installments of $4,500.
The celebrity couple got married in May 2014 but had been friends for many years before that.
