Kaffy Shafau, the Nigerian dancer, has shared her thoughts on the separation of singer 2Baba and his wife Annie.
On Sunday, the ‘African Queen’ hitmaker announced that he and Annie had not been together for a while and were filing for divorce.
The news of their separation has sparked reactions from fans and celebrities alike.
In a recent Instagram post, Kaffy described the couple as “victims of circumstances” and urged the public to give them space to heal.
Kaffy, who claims to know the couple well, emphasized that both 2Baba and Annie are hurt and coming from a place of toxicity.
The 44-year-old argued that people should not have high expectations from others, as everyone comes from the same “wealth of poison”.
Kaffy also touched on the societal pressure on women to suffer in the name of love. She questioned why women are expected to endure pain to prove their love, while men are often not held to the same standard.
“For the 2face and Annie, I am rooting for both of them. They are both victims of their circumstances. We should always hold space for people. I know them very well. They both have a battle. And it looks like people are focusing on Annie’s battle, not 2Face’s. The guy has plenty of baby mamas that he did not plan to have,” she said.
“Both of them have hurt themselves. They are coming from toxicity. Everybody is talking their mind. They do not love peace. We should stop having high expectations from people when we all come from the same wealth of poison. This is the era where we need to wake up and be accountable for ourselves.
“Why must the woman suffer to prove love? I have spoken to guys who are subjected to start doing certain things wrong because of peace. We have a lot of relationships that are not supposed to be. Pray for 2Face and Annie.”
Kaffy also expressed hope that they will become stronger and healthier, whether together or apart. She acknowledged that she has learnt from her past experiences and encouraged others to do the same.
“Despite all of these problems, some girls would have been in 2Face’s DM wanting to sleep with him. A lot of Africans do things for favour and grandiosity. They will come out great. Maybe back together healthier, maybe not.
“Even in my past marriage, there were some things I could have done better.”

2Baba and Annie tied the knot in May 2012. They have two children — Olivia and Isabella.
This isn’t the first time the couple’s marriage has faced public scrutiny.
In 2021, Annie publicly called out 2Baba for his alleged infidelity, accusing him of having an affair with his baby mama, Pero Adeniyi.
