A statement issued on Tuesday by Danlami Aduwu, spokesperson of the college, directed staff and students to vacate the campus.

The suspension was said to have become necessary as a result of the persistent attacks by unknown gunmen on villages bordering the Kaduna State College of Education, located in Gidan Waya.

The need to safeguard the lives and properties of staffers and students were also cited as motivating factors behind the suspension of activities.

The staff and students of the college have reportedly deserted the Gidan Waya campus in fear of losing their lives.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), villages surrounding the institution – Godogodo, Pasakori, Mile One and Tudun Wada – have been under repeated attacks.

The institution has instructed staffers to report to the temporary site of the institution at Kafanchan.
