Lee Jihan, the K-Pop singer and actor, has been killed in the Halloween stampede in South Korea.
On Saturday, over 140 persons were killed in the stampede that happened during a Halloween celebration in Seoul.
Lee, who became famous for his role on the second series of ‘Produce 101’, the Korean reality show, was said to have been among the persons who died in the stampede.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, 935 Entertainment, the actor’s management, said the agency is “heartbroken” to announce the passing of a “precious family member”.
“I am heartbroken to be greeted with sad news. Actor Lee Jihan, a precious family member of 935 Entertainment and 9 ATO Entertainment, has become a star in the sky and left us,” the statement reads.
“I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the family member who are in deep grief due to the sudden demise of actor Lee Jihan and all those who love and cherish him.
“Actor Lee Jihan was a sweet and warm friend to all. I can’t believe that I can’t see the infinitely bright and innocent actor Ji-han who always smile brightly and greet me anymore.
“Please send a warm farewell to actor Ji-han who left us too soon. We 985 entertainment and 9Ato entertainment will long remember actor Ji-han who shined beautifully with a passion for acting. Once again, I send my deepest condolences to the deceased last journey.”
‘Produce 101’ is a popular reality singing competition series where 101 contestants battle for a chance to join an 11-member K-Pop group.
