Joshua Johnson, a veteran Nollywood actor, is dead.
Abel Alechenu, his colleague, who is also an actor, broke the news via Instagram.
“This one hits differently, but all I can say is ‘it is well’. When I called your phone and it rang, I thought all I heard were rumours, until I was told by the voice which was not yours that you have gone to be with the Lord,” he wrote.
“I wish I could just hear that it’s one of your so many jokes, ‘Uncle Josh’, ‘Old man!’
“As I always called you, our last conversation was our normal jokes fa. Haba uncle Josh! May God comfort your immediate family and us, your friends and fans. Thanks for all the memories. God rest your soul.”
It was gathered that Johnson passed away on Thursday, although the nature of his death was undisclosed.
Sources in the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) couldn’t be reached for comments on his demise.
The Nollywood space has lost a couple of veteran actors over the past months.
In early August, Rich Oganiru had passed away after battling an illness for months.
In the same month, Victor Olaotan, the lead actor of ‘Tinsel’, the popular soap opera, passed away aged 69.
