Joke Jigan, the Nigerian actress, is in mourning following the sudden death of her “sister” Elizabeth.

Lizzy’s death was announced by Jigan in a tribute post on her official Instagram page.

While the precise nature of their relationship was not detailed, the actress expressed profound grief, referring to Elizabeth as “my darling sis”.

The 38-year-old movie star said she was so shaken by the loss that she questioned the recent frequency of tragedy. She also revealed she is considering a hiatus from social media.

“Omoh! Be like na to log off all social media for now o because what in the name of death is going on??!! Rest in peace lizzy my darling sis,” she wrote.

The news came hours after Peju Ogunmola, her colleague, lost her only child Ayomikun.

The cause of the child’s death has not been publicly disclosed. Ogunmola’s loss prompted an outpouring of support from fellow industry professionals.

Actor Femi Adebayo described the actress’ loss as “the weight no mother should bear”.

Bukky Wright said “There are no words for such a loss. Please know that I am holding you and your family in my thoughts”.

On his part, Muyiwa Ademola disclosed that the news left him ‘heartbroken”. He added that only God can console the actress and prayed for divine strength to help her bear the loss.

Joke started her career in the Yoruba movie industry in 2008. She gained prominence after featuring in the movie ‘Bisola Beyoncé’.

She has also appeared in several movies like ‘Ikoko’, ‘Idoti’, and ‘Oyinkansola’.
