Sylvester Madu, the Nigerian actor, says he has embarked on a seven-day fasting to pray against deaths in Nollywood.
Madu announced his plan via his Instagram page on Sunday — a few days after the death of Junior Pope, his colleague.
Last Wednesday, Pope died in a boat accident that claimed the lives of four other people in River Niger in Asaba, Delta state.
On Tuesday, Madu said he has begun the “spiritual exercise”, adding that prayer meetings will be held via all his social media handles.
The actor urged his colleagues to pray so that “evil does not prevail over good men”.

“Join me as I propose a 7 days of Prayer and fasting in and for Nollywood and the Practioners. 15th April to 21st April. Evil prevail when good men do nothing, evil prevail also when we dont pray as Christians,” he captioned the post.
“So kindly join me daily online on Kingschat or Zoom as we pray and fast for ourselves and our colleagues in Nollywood.
“Link to join will be sent on my WhatsApp status and all Nollywood platforms and my social media platforms too You can break your fast from 2 pm, 4 pm or 6 pm. And at 2 pm to 2.15 pm, 4 pm to 4.15 pm, 6 pm to 6.15 pm we will pray for 15 minutes at each of these times daily for 7 days.
“I will be sending prayer points daily and will also be live daily on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram at each of these 15 minutes to lead us in these prayer times.”
Madu also reminisced on memories he shared with the late actor.
“This life that we live in is not balanced. It is only God that can balance it for you if you know him. He will help to direct your account path every single day so that your mistakes are minimised,” he added.
“Seeing that video or hearing what has happened to my colleague, I had to ruminate on so many things. I went back and brought my old phone and I was watching it.”
