Jimmy Kimmel, the American comedian, has been unveiled as the host for the 96th Academic Awards.

The host was announced by the organisers via a blog post on Thursday — ahead of the Oscar Awards which will take place on March 10, 2024.

The comedian is set to host the prestigious award ceremony for the fourth occasion, having presided over the events in 2017, 2018, and 2023.

“We are thrilled about Jimmy returning to host and Molly returning as executive producer for the Oscars. They share our love of movies and our commitment to producing a dynamic and entertaining show for our global audience,” the post reads.

“We are deeply grateful to Jimmy, Molly, and their teams for their incredible creativity and partnership and for going on this ride with us again.”

The 96th Oscars will air live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Kimmel is the host and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a late-night talk show that premiered on ABC on January 26, 2003.

He has won numerous awards for his work, including a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host and a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy/Variety Specials.

“I always dreamed of hosting the Oscars exactly four times,” Kimmel said in a statement.

‘Mami Water’, a movie written and directed by C.J. Obasi, was selected as Nigeria’s International Feature Film (IFF) contender for the upcoming show.
