The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results for candidates who wrote the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Of the 1,792,719 candidates who sat for the exam, Ishaq Oloyede, registrar of the board, said 34,120 results were withheld on account of malpractice and 15,145 others for further clarification.

Oloyede said that the JAMB shortcode 55019 would be the only means for candidates to look up their respective jamb scores for the first three days of the release.

This, he said, is to mitigate the activities of fraudsters and to prevent candidates whose results were withheld from “wasting their money at cyber cafes”.

The board also urged candidates to visit its portal and use their respective JAMB registration numbers or their registered email addresses to look up their scores as from May 13, 2019.

Here is how to check your UTME scores using the shortcode:

  • Type: ‘RESULT’, followed by candidate’s surname, first name, and middle name.
  • Example: Result Ciroma Chukwuma Adekunle
  • Send to 55019

Note that the said details are to be sent with the same phone number with which candidates registered for the examination. The service cost of N50 would be deducted, so, ensure you have some airtime to spare.

If any candidate’s result is withheld, they would receive a message that reads:

“Result withheld pending the upload of clarifications /documents required from you.”

If a candidate was absent, they would get a feedback text that reads:

“Candidate Absent ”

Here’s how to look up your UTME results online:

  • Visit the UTME results checking portal.
  • Enter your JAMB registration number/email address in the required column.
  • Click on ‘Check My Results’ and the portal would load your results if it’s ready.

Note that results are only available for checking online as from May 13, 2019, as hinted by the JAMB registrar.

Results are also released in batches. If you get feedback that reads “You do not have any results yet”, you might want to check back later.
