Jada Pinkett, the wife of Will Smith, the US actor, is set to release a memoir about her life, marriage, and career.
According to AP, the film star has inked a deal with Dey Street Books, the publishing company, for the release of the book.
In a statement, the publisher said the “no holds barred” memoir is scheduled to be released next year.
It also said the “honest and gripping memoir” will cover Jada’s “complicated marriage to Will Smith,” and battle with depression among other topics.
It is understood the book will also address her “unconventional upbringing in Baltimore,” friendship with late rapper Tupac Shakur, and experience with alopecia.
“Jada Pinkett Smith chronicles lessons learned in the course of a difficult but riveting journey — a rollercoaster ride from the depths of suicidal depression to the heights of personal rediscovery and the celebration of authentic feminine power,” the publisher said.
“In crisis at age 40, Jada recounts the excruciating choices she was forced to make to redefine her life in every way.”
The actress tied the knot with Smith in 1997. The union has so far been blessed with two children.
Their marriage has been in the news on several occasions for controversial reasons.
In 2020, they were in the spotlight over reports of Jada’s affair with August Alsina, the US rapper.
They also made the headlines in March after Smith slapped Chris Rock, the comedian, at the 2022 Oscars.
Smith had slapped Rock in the face on stage for making a joke about Jada’s shaved head — which is due to the hair-loss condition alopecia.
