Billie Eilish, the US singer and songwriter, has opened up about her sexuality.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the 22-year-old revealed that she has had a lifelong attraction to women. She also said she is ready to fully embrace it.

“I have been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just did not understand — until, last year, I realised I wanted my face in a vagina,” she said.

Eilish said it took her time to accept this aspect of herself and criticised the pressure from the internet to disclose one’s sexuality.

She added that it is important to allow individuals to define their identity at their own pace.

“I was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years,” she added.

“I have known people that do not know their sexuality, or feel comfortable with it, until they are in their forties, fifties, sixties. It takes a while to find yourself, and I think it is really unfair, the way that the internet bullies you into talking about who you are and what you are.”

Eilish’s debut single ‘Ocean Eyes’ —  co-created with Finneas O’Connell, her brother — launched her career in 2015.

In 2020, she won big at the Grammys with five awards.

She has also received other recognitions including American Music Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and Guinness World Records.
