Simi, Nigerian singer, says she is not pregnant as claimed in some quarters.

The singer tied the knot with Adekunle Gold at a low-key ceremony in January 2019 and welcomed their first child together in June last year.

But rumours had swirled in some quarters that the 33-year-old musician is pregnant with another child.

Reacting via her Instagram stories on Tuesday, Simi warned those peddling such rumours while threatening to block them on social media if they persist.

“Lot of people saying babies do this when their mom is pregnant. She did that six months ago too, and I ain’t seen no baby. Don’t let me block you ok?” she wrote.

In a follow-up post, she wrote: “pregnant ko, covenant ni” — an ostensible dig at those fuelling the pregnancy claim.

With numerous awards and recognition, Simi has established herself as a household name in the Nigerian music landscape.

She had earlier recounted the difficulty she faced producing ‘Duduke’, her hit song, while she was pregnant.

“It was actually really hard because my first trimester was really difficult. I had pretty bad morning sickness and I was throwing up a lot. That was not the worst. The worst part for me is that I was very very uninspired,” she had said.

“Music wasn’t one of my favourite things at that time. I didn’t want to record. And it really hurt me because I just renovated my studio, so I was really excited. I didn’t expect to feel like that.  I couldn’t record. I didn’t have energy.”
