Melvin Ejiofor, Nigerian rapper better known as Illbliss, says he felt incomplete after waiting for eight years before having his first child.
The musician spoke when he featured on #WithChude, the podcast hosted by Chude Jideonwo, the media personality.
Illbiss said he tied the knot with Munachimso, his wife, in 2009 because he wanted to have a family early.
The rapper said after five years, they came under pressure from family members and relatives due to lack of children in the marriage.
The ‘Aiye Po Gan’ crooner disclosed that he remained unperturbed during the period.
The rapper also said two months after he and his wife considered adopting a child, she eventually got pregnant.
IllBliss welcomed his first child with Munachi in July 2017.
“It took us eight years to have my first daughter. I felt incomplete…this is why you must marry your friend. My wife’s name is Munachimso, which in Igbo means I walk with God,” he said.
“Sometimes, she would ask me, babe, why are we not panicking, or having anxiety about not having children…it was a long wait. I got married in 2009, I knew I was doing the honourable thing because I wanted to raise a family promptly and take care of them.
“After five years, some of my friends that I was part of their groom’s men have all had kids…kids were popping up from all around us and people tried to make me panic but we stayed with God.
“At some point, we decided to adopt, just two months after we had that conversation, my wife took in. Eventually, our first daughter came.”
