Comedian Ijoba Lande has called out Funke Akindele, the filmmaker, alleging that he was underpaid after working on one of her projects.

In a video circulating on social media, Lande claimed he spent a month on set at Amen Estate but was not adequately compensated for his time and effort.

The comedian said he “received N90,000” after signing a contract he initially assumed was “just a formality”.

Lande advised upcoming actors to always negotiate payment before accepting work and not to “see anyone as if they want to help you”.

“I went to work for Funke Akindele in Amen Estate for one month. I was on set for one whole month,” he said.

“I was driving a white Lexus car during that time, I had a wife and I was living in Ayobo and only go home if we’re not shooting the next day. For a month, Funke Akindele didn’t pay me N150,000.

“The reason I’m saying this is for the upcoming actors, don’t see anyone as a god. She messaged me after I posted a video. All the times that I worked for her, we didn’t take any pictures together because she didn’t make herself available. I didn’t beg for pictures to avoid insults.

“I was so happy to work for her. I was given a form to sign. I didn’t want to bill her because of her status, but now, even if Michael Jackson asks me to work for him, I’ll let him know my rates. If you really need me, you’ll pay.

“For upcoming actors, don’t see anyone as if they want to help you. It’s a lie. But then I was so happy to work for Funke Akindele and didn’t bother to ask how much I would be paid because I didn’t want her to change her mind.

“When I got there, the producer gave me a form to sign and I saw that I’ll be paid N90,000 every month. I was shocked, but I had already started working for them. I thought signing the form didn’t mean anything until I received N90,000 payment after one month.”

Akindele has yet to comment on Lande’s allegation.
