Diane Russet, a former housemate of the Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) reality TV show, says she would love to see lesbianism legalised in Nigeria.
Lesbianism, which refers to romantic or sexual attraction between women, is prohibited by law in Nigeria and offenders could bag 14-year imprisonment if convicted.
The reality TV star took to her Instagram story to interact with fans, asking them to share secrets they have not revealed to anyone before.
One of her fans had disclosed that she has been nursing affection for fellow girls, adding that she wished lesbianism is legalised in Nigeria to allow her actualise her desires.
”I’m so attracted to girls. I wish lesbianism is legal. I would love to date a girl,” the fan had written.
Reacting to the fan’s comment, Diane said she also wished the country’s constitution allows lesbianism.
“This conversation hmmm I doubt Nigeria will because we are too religious. Won’t type much before someone misquotes me. I will love to see it legalised though,” she wrote.
Her comment has further reignited the conversations surrounding whether or not homosexuality should be legalised in Nigeria.
