Benjamin Hundeyin, the state command’s spokesperson, broke the news in a Twitter post on Friday.

According to him, the musician, whose real name is Panshak Zamani, was arrested around 3 am.

Hundeyin said the ‘Oleku’ crooner was flagged down by police operatives on duty for driving without license plates.

The police spokesperson said the singer then agreed to follow the officers to the police station.

Hundeyin added that on their way to the station, Ice Prince allegedly abducted the police officer in his car, assaulted him, and threatened to throw him into the river.

The state police PRO said the rapper would be arraigned for alleged assault on a police officer later in the day.

“At 3 am today, @Iceprincezamani was stopped for driving without license plates. He agreed to be taken to the station,” he wrote.

“He, thereafter, abducted the police officer in his car, assaulted him and threatened to throw him in the river. He has been arrested and would be arraigned today.”

Ice Prince has not reacted to the incident — as of the time of this report.

The rapper started to enjoy fame in 2011 after he released ‘Oleku’, a hit song off  ‘Everybody Loves Ice Prince’, his debut studio album.

He has continued to drop hit songs and also collaborated with other music heavyweights across Africa.
