Ibukun Awosika, chairman of First Bank of Nigeria (FBN), will be making her Nollywood debut in ‘Citation‘, a forthcoming movie by Kunle Afolayan, actor and filmmaker.
Awosika broke the news in a post on her social media page on Monday.
She described her foray into the movie landscape as a “great adventure and risk worth taking,” adding that such opportunity will further help her to advance the fight against females in the society.
“It is not in all situations, that we get a chance to do more than talk, about an issue that we are passionate about. The challenges that the female gender faces in her pursuit to be her best is multi dimensional,” she wrote on Instagram.

“When great institutions all come together, with an award winning producer to take on a global issue, it seemed like a good risk worth taking as well as a great adventure into a field I had never experienced. Real respect for the players of the field.”
Afolayan also took to his social media page to share photos of himself posing alongside Awosika and other cast of the movie.
The movie producer revealed that work on the movie started in 2018. He added that the first private screening of the film was done at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Osun state.
Afolayan also expressed his excitement at working with Awosika, whom he said is an alumnus of the institution.
The First Bank chair joins the list of prominent figures and movie stars including Temi, daughter of Femi Otedola, Nigerian business mogul, to feature in the much-awaited project.
Written by Tunde Babalola, and directed by Afolayan, ‘Citation’ explores the prevalence of sexual harassment in higher institutions.
