Police in India have arrested Raj Kundra, husband of Shilpa Shetty, Bollywood actress, for allegedly producing and broadcasting pornographic films online.
The police in Mumbai announced the arrest of the 45-year-old businessman in the late hours of Monday.
The security outfit also described Kundra as a “key conspirator” in a case involving the creation and publication of adult films via internet apps, adding that it had sufficient evidence against him.
“There was a case registered with the Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps,” the Mumbai police commissioner said in a statement.
“We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidence regarding this.”
Kundra has, however, denied any wrongdoing.
According to The Hindu, the businessman has been remanded in police custody till July 23 by a court in Mumbai.
Kundra, who has two children with Shetty, is not new to scandals.
Six years ago, he was banned for life from all cricket-related activities after an investigation into match-fixing during his stint as a co-owner of the Rajasthan Royals, a franchise in the hugely successful Indian Premier League (IPL).
