Speaking to NAN in an interview, Bodunrin said he is not affected by criticisms of nude body painting.

Body painting involves the drawing and painting of temporary designs on the body.

It appears in various forms like the camwood painting in the south-east, henna designs in the north to list a few.

“The human body, in my opinion, is the greatest art in the universe and body art is just my way of appreciating the uniqueness of the human body.

In a world of conditions, art is my escape. My escape from the mundane things into higher consciousness, present mindedness. . . . #art #artist #bodypaint #bodyart

“Basically, in this part of the world, the appreciation is not as one would expect and there’s this undertone of it being un-African.

“We get a lot of criticism but I am not bothered by it because you need to have an open mind to appreciate art.

“Everyone loves art and some people like the feeling of being exclusive. Some others feel elevated and use the art to stay in touch with their higher selves.”

The artist said that despite the criticism, body artists have a lot of clients because people love art.

He plans to hold an exhibition later this year and he looks forward to collaborating with Nigerian artists.
