Activist VeryDarkMan, chess master Tunde Onakoya, and actress Iyabo Ojo will on Sunday night be slugging it out for gongs at the 2024 Trendupp Awards.
The award event honours influencers, content creators, and brands excelling in the use of social media across diverse fields and platforms. It celebrates originality, highlighting the bold efforts of content producers and influencers.
Onakoya and Ojo will battle for ‘The Force of Influence’ award while VeryDarkMan will aim to win the ‘Force For Social Good’ category.
Onakoya became a media sensation in April after achieving the world record for the longest chess marathon at Times Square in New York City, playing the game for over 58 hours.
Ojo and VeryDarkMan, on the other hand, are active voices against social vices. However, there is no love lost between the pair. In the past weeks, the actress and activist have engaged in a heated war of words on social media.
The nomination list for this year’s awards comprises a total of 102 social media personalities who were nominated in 17 award categories.
HOW TO WATCH THE TRENDUPP AWARDS
The fourth edition of the award ceremony will be televised on Pop Central TV (DSTV Channel 189) while streaming simultaneously on the Trendupp Africa YouTube channel.
The red carpet will begin at 5pm while the main event kickstarts by 7pm.

Trendupp Africa held its first award ceremony in 2021 and has honoured nearly 300 outstanding content creators, influencers, and brands across various niches and platforms.
The judges for the 2024 edition are Busola Tejumola, Do2dtun, Denrele Edun, and Yinka Adebayo.
