Mary Mara, the Hollywood actress popular for her role in the television series ‘Nash Bridges’, has passed away at the age of 61.

New York police authorities said she was found in the early hours of Sunday in a river near the Canadian border.

A press release from New York state police revealed that officers responded to a “call around 8:10 a.m. local time for a possible drowning.”

“On June 26, 2022, at 8:10 a.m., State Police responded to 33753 Old Farm Road in the town of Cape Vincent, Jefferson County for a reported possible drowning,” it read.

“When Troopers, along with Cape Vicent Fire and Ambulance arrived on the scene, they discovered a female deceased in the St. Lawrence River.  The victim has been identified as 61-year-old Mary T. Mara from Cape Vincent, NY.

“The preliminary investigation suggests the victim drowned while swimming. The victim’s body showed no signs of foul play and was transported to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office pending an autopsy to determine an official cause of death.

“The investigation is continuing.”

Born in Syracuse, New York, Mara has starred in several shows and movies.

The actress’ list of credits includes ‘Dexter’, ‘The Practice’, ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’ as well as ‘Mr. Saturday Night’.

Tributes have been pouring in on social media as news of her death continues to spread.
