HILDA BACI UNDER FIRE
Hilda Baci, the record-breaking chef, came under fire from a segment of Nigerians on social media after she was captured eating dog meat in a viral video.
Jackie Idimogu, the animal rights activist, had tackled Baci and Enioluwa Adeoluwa, the influencer, for “giving the world the impression that Nigerians are dog eaters.”
Idimogu, who is the creator of the ‘My Dog & I’ group, said she was disappointed at Hilda’s action — despite the fact that members of her group and their dogs were present at her recently concluded cook-a-thon to cheer her up.
The development sparked a wave of mixed reactions on social media, especially Twitter. While some Nigerians backed Hilda’s action, others did not.
The celebrity chef is currently waiting for the Guinness World Records to confirm her recent feat as the individual with the record for the longest cooking marathon.
The Akwa-Ibom native achieved the feat after surpassing the 87 hours 45 minutes record set by Lata Tondon, the Indian chef, in 2019.
After breaking Tondon’s cooking record, Baci went a step further by setting a new record of 100 hours.

The media personality recently opened up on her past relationship; where she was engaged to an “abusive” partner.
She revealed she could have been married but the relationship didn’t work out.
“I could have been a married woman right now. I was engaged, but it didn’t work out,” she said.
“Also, it was a violent relationship. And I realised that is not what I want for myself. I‘ve also seen few violent relationships and I realized that’s not what I want for myself as well.
“I was in a violent relationship for about two and a half years. It wasn’t even a thing that someone had to come and drag me, I needed to sort of realize that no Moet, this cannot be you loving yourself.
“You being here means that you don’t want the best for yourself. And that was how we just had one fight and I never picked up his phone call again.”
YVONNE JEGEDE ADDRESSES RUMOUR OF SECRET MARRIAGE TO NED NWOKO
Yvonne Jegede addressed rumours of a secret marriage to Ned Nwoko, the husband of Regina Daniels.
A blogger claimed the actress recently tied the knot with the politician. The blog post, however, didn’t provide context to support the claim.
In her reaction, the film star described the post as “evil and false.”
“This funny post is evil and false in every intent. I won’t dissipate energy fighting you. Karma is already dealing with your destiny,” she said.
AYRA STARR CANCELS SHOWS IN EUROPE OVER VISA ISSUES
Ayra Starr, the Mavin records artiste, cancelled her shows in some European countries due to visa issues.
The ‘Bloody Samaritan’ crooner also apologised to her fans while promising “to bring an unforgettable performance as soon as the issue is resolved.”
“Visa issues have hit hard!” Starr said.
“Sadly, I had to cancel me performance in Berlin, Bergenfest, and Copenhagen.”
BUKOLA AWOYEMI ENDS 8-YEAR RELATIONSHIP WITH DAMOLA OLATUNJI
Bukola Awoyemi, the Yoruba actress popularly known as Arugba, ended her eight-year relationship with Damola Olatunji, her baby daddy.
In a letter issued by Spring Worth Law Firms, Bukola’s lawyers, the actress claimed the pair were never married.
The letter added that they have both agreed to jointly ensure that their children’s welfare is guaranteed.
“Please take note that our client, Bukola Awoyemi and Mr. Damola Olatunji are no longer an item. They have gone their separate ways and this is without any hard feelings or ill will,” it reads in part.
“They have never been married to each other but are blessed with two lovely children (twins).”
REMA’S ‘CALM DOWN’ SETS NEW RECORD ON BILLBOARD HOT 100
Last Tuesday, Billboard disclosed that ‘Calm Down’ has climbed a step further to the number 4 position on the Hot 100 chart.
The song has now surpassed its previous peak of no 5.
‘Calm Down’ has spent over 36 weeks on the chart and also holds the record for the longest-charting African song on Billboard Hot 100.
The song was released in February 2022 as a single off ‘Rave and Roses’, Rema’s debut album.
BURNA BOY BECOMES THE FIRST AFRICAN ARTISTE TO SELLOUT 80,000 CAPACITY LONDON STADIUM
Burna Boy sold out an 80,000-capacity stadium in London, becoming the first African artiste to do as a solo artiste.
The Grammy winner delivered a spectacular performance of ‘Love, Damini’, his 19-track album, to the energetic concertgoers at the former Olympic Stadium.
Burna Boy also treated the audience to about 49 songs from his impressive catalogue of hits as the crowd sang along with him.
International artistes like Stormzy, Popcaan, Dave & Jhus were also guest performers at the concert.
