The death of Olanrewaju Fasasi, Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter better known as Sound Sultan, has sent shockwaves across the country.
The multi-talented artiste was said to have battled lymphoma — a type of blood cancer that starts in the white blood cells.
His family announced his passing in a statement released by Kayode Fasasi on Sunday.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of multitalented veteran singer, rapper, songwriter Olanrewaju Fasasi a.k.a Sound Sultan,” the statement reads.
Tributes have begun to pour in for the fallen musician on social media platforms especially Twitter. Fans from different spheres of life have taken to the microblogging platform to pay their final respect.
“Such a sad thing to wake up to, the passing of Sound Sultan. He was a class act through and through. May his soul rest in peace. Love and prayers to everyone he left behind. Terrible news,” Omojuwa wrote.
“The nicest, most humble and talented person you could ever know. Sound Sultan! Rest in peace,” Frank Edoho wrote.
“Rest in peace Sound Sultan. The only mathematician. Finally free from all the “jagbajantis” of this world,” a Twitter user wrote.
