Dame Products, a manufacturing company in US, has produced an egg-shaped vibrator, Eva, which could be attached to a woman’s nether region by two wings.
According to the New York Times, the device which is operated hands-free is designed in such a way that it does not interfere with a couple’s intimacy.
Janet Lieberman, a product designer, and Alexandra Fine, her business partner, designed the device after they found flaws in the commonly used vibrators.
“I had always bought cheap vibrators and my bedside drawer was a graveyard for them,” said Lieberman, who studied mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
“You could replace the batteries but they still would stop working. I realised there was a need for well-engineered sex toys. There’s no real trusted brand and that’s what we’re setting out to be.”
Fine who has a masters degree in clinical psychology with a focus on marriage counselling and sex therapy said their mission “is to close the pleasure gap”.
“We wanted to stimulate women with something non-obtrusive so you can look in your partner’s eyes,” Fine said.
“We want to fight any inequality between the sexes, but especially when it comes to sexual practices. We want women to claim their sexual pleasure and own it.”
Having gone to the market with the product since early 2015, they have sold over 65,000 units at $105 per piece.
