Halima Abubakar says she is quitting her career as an actor — amid concerns about her health.
The film star disclosed this in a terse statement signed by her management on Monday.
The statement said although Halima really loves acting, “she is so downcast”.
It also appreciated fans of the actress as well as well-wishers who have been supporting her.
“Halima Abubakar quits acting. We are so grateful for all the prayers, God bless you all. We love you all. Thank you for your support. She is so. She really did love acting. Thank you,” it reads.
“Rest and continue healing. We all love you. my sweet sis…We are waiting for you diva.”
The statement, however, did not reveal the nature of the ailment the actress is battling.
Halima has been in the news on several occasions over concerns about her health.
Talks about her health heightened shortly after she called out Apostle Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International.
The actress had claimed she once dated the cleric because he told her then that he was no longer with his wife.
Halima had also accused the clergyman of paying blogs monthly to promote lies.
In his reaction, Suleman threatened to sue her for “defamatory statements”.
Last month, a video of the actress — allegedly bedridden — surfaced online.

Halima started her acting career in 2001 and has established herself as a prominent name in Nollywood since then.
The 37-year-old has starred in hundreds of Nollywood films including ‘Men in Love’, ‘Slip of Fate’, ‘Tears of a Child’, ‘White Hunters’, and ‘Area Mama’.
