The entertainer spoke on the back of the just concluded Osun state governorship election.

Gboyega Oyetola, the incumbent governor under the All Progressives Congress (APC), lost to Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Osun polls.

According to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Adeleke secured 403, 371 votes while Oyetola polled 375,027 votes.

Aside from the pre-existing challenge of vote buying, positive remarks have since abounded across quarters, given the relatively seamless voting process.

After the results were announced, Buhari, in a series of tweets on Sunday, reiterated his commitment to ensuring the conduct of credible elections across the country.

The president also said the results of the election reflected the will of the Osun people.

“I remain fully committed to leaving behind a legacy of credible elections in Nigeria,” he wrote.

Quoting one of Buhari’s tweets, Davido prayed for God’s blessing on the president for “this act alone”.

“You will leave a lasting legacy! God bless you for this act alone sir!” the singer wrote.

In February 2022, Buhari signed the much-awaited Electoral Act Amendment Bill into law.

Some innovations of the new law are the early release of funds to INEC, early conduct of primaries, and legitimisation of e-voting.
