Gideon Okeke, a Nigerian actor, has narrated how an unnamed woman threatened to frustrate his acting career for speaking the “truth” seven years ago.
In a post on his social media page on Wednesday, the movie star said the incident happened at a studio in Tinapa, Calabar, while they were working on ‘Tinsel’, a Nigerian soap opera.
He recalled the said woman telling him he would not make it in the movie industry.
“You’ll never find work in this industry! Let no one touch this idiot with a ten foot pole. Let me see what work you will get in this industry…When ‘Tinsel’ ends,” he quoted her as saying.

The gifted actor said he decided to share what transpired between them to show no one should assume the role of God when it comes to helping others in pursuit of success.
“That’s what she said. Today, Tinsel still films. I am still finding work. In fact, finding work for me and my friends. I just want to thank her for reminding me that there’s a God. And he’s not her,” he added.
The model and TV presenter said it is unfortunate that unhealthy politicking has become the new normal in Nigeria, killing the dreams of many rising stars in the process.
He, however, charged people to always stand for the truth, noting it would always pay off in the long run.
“Folks will try to take food out of your mouth…for not playing their kind of politics. And that’s why we say Nigeria is a Killer of dreams. My flaw is not being able to hold my truth in my stomach. My bad. But if you sit in sh*t long enough, soon you will get used to the stench”, he added.
