Ihetu Chimdinma Adaugo, a graduate of Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), has recounted how she braced the odds to emerge the best student in her department.

Adaugo graduated as the best student in the department of biomedical technology at the insitution with a CGPA of 4.42/5.00.

In a post via her LinkedIn page, the lady said she lost her parents during her third year at Madonna University where she was studying medicine and surgery.

According to her, the development made her to drop out of the varsity at the time.

Adaugo said she then took the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) again but did not see her post-UTME results.

Adaugo disclosed that she decided to apply for biomedical technology at FUTO and eventually got admission into the school.

She added that her graduation was also delayed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

“After losing both parents. After having to drop out of Madonna university in my 3rd year where I was studying medicine and surgery same year after losing my parents… After having to re-write jamb and not see any result for the post-UTME,” she wrote.

“Then I re-applied for JAMB, put in Federal University of Technology Owerri the next year and took up Biomedical Technology because it seemed like the closest thing to medicine…

“I picked myself from the dust and faced school squarely, six years (due to coronavirus) of combining medical courses, engineering courses and science courses, 10 years after secondary school, here I am to say thank God for this achievement. I made it, the best graduating student of Biomedical Technology 2019/2020 set.”
