Checks by TheCable Lifestyle on her Instagram page on Monday showed that the actress cleared all her campaign posts on the photo and video-sharing social networking service.

Akindele was the running mate to Olajide ‘Jandor’ Adediran, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, during the March 18 gubernatorial election.

The PDP, however, lost the election to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Sanwo-Olu secured a second term as governor of Lagos after polling 762,134 votes to win the election.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP) came second with 312,329 votes, while Jandor trailed in third place with 62,449 votes.

TheCable Lifestyle earlier reported how the deputy governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos lost by a huge margin in her LGA — Ikorodu —  to Sanwo-Olu.

The Ikorodu-born actress also lost to the governor at her polling unit.

In July 2022, the actress confirmed her nomination as the Lagos state deputy governorship candidate of the PDP.

Akindele also said she joined politics to give hope to the masses, especially women and children.

In December, the actress said her latest film ‘Battle On Buka Street’ was a farewell to the movie industry.

She added that she has “passed the baton of production” to the young ones in the industry in order to focus on her political aspiration.
