FULL LIST: Two Nigerian authors nominated for 2019 Hugo awards

Nnedi Okorafor and Tomi Adeyemi, Nigerian authors, have been nominated alongside world top science fiction and fantasy writers for the 2019 Hugo Awards.

Named after Hugo Gernsbacher, a legendary sci-fiction writer, the award celebrates the best science fiction and fantasy works across the globe.

Nnedi Okorafor clinched two nominations ahead of the award billed to hold at the WorldCon 77 in Dublin, Ireland, between August 15 and 19, 2019.

‘Binti: The Night Masquerade’ is one of Okorafor’s works competing for best novella category while ‘ “Black Panther: Long Live the King” is in the best graphic story category.

Okorafor made her first debut in 2016 where she won Hugo’s prize for the best novella nominations.

Adeyemi’s debut novel ‘Children of Blood and Bone’ is up for the best young adult book category. Her category is competing in the 2018 associated award section.
