‘The Milkmaid‘, a film by Desmond Ovbiagele, a Nigerian movie producer, has continued its impressive run by winning five out of eight nominations at the 2020 edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
At the virtual event on Sunday, ‘The Milkmaid’ emerged winner in the ‘Best Film’, ‘Best Film in an African Language’, ‘Achievement in Makeup’, as well as the ‘The National Film And Video Censors Board (NFVCB) Award For Best Nigerian Film’ categories respectively.
‘This Is Not A Burial, It’s A Resurrection’, a 2019 Mosotho drama film directed by Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese, occupied the second spot on the medals table with four wins including ‘Achievement in Cinematography’ category.
Ramsey Nouah won the ‘Best Actor in a Supporting Role’ category, for his role in ‘Living in Bondage: Breaking Free’, while Maryam Booth snagged the gong for the ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’ category, for her role in ‘The Milkmaid’.
In an interview with TheCable Lifestyle, Ovbiagele said ‘The Milkmaid’ was shot to give a clearer picture of the psychological ordeals of victims of insurgency in northern Nigeria.
