Funke Akindele, the filmmaker, has been named the second highest-grossing Nollywood writer of 2024.
In a social media post on Friday, FilmOne Entertainment unveiled the Nollywood writers who “broke records” last year.
“Cheers to a groundbreaking year for Nollywood writers 👏🏽🇳🇬,” the post reads.

Stephen Oluboyo was named the highest-grossing Nollywood writer with the films ‘Everybody Loves Jennifer’, ‘Alakada: Bad and Boujee’, and ‘Aburo’, which all raked in N1.381 billion.
Akindele, Collins Okoh and Akinlabi Ishola emerged second on the list with ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’, which generated N1.125 billion at the box office.
Anthony Kehinde Joseph clinched the third position for the films ‘Queen Lateefah’, ‘The Waiter’ and ‘Alakada: Bad and Boujee’ which grossed N780 million.
Jack’ Enneth Opukeme was named the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood writer with films like ‘Farmer’s Bride’ and ‘All’s Fair in Love’, which generated N299 million.
Stephen Okonkwo secured the fifth position with ‘Ajosepo’, which raked in N257 million.
Adebayo Tijani and Ola Olaoye were ranked the sixth highest-grossing Nollywood writers, with ‘Beast of Two Worlds: Ajakaju’ scooping in N253 million at the box office.
Oluyombo Oluwagbemiga and Toyin Abraham took the seventh spot with ‘Alakada: Bad and Boujee’ generating N229 million.
Odunlade Adekola and Akorede Ibrahim claimed the eighth spot with ‘Lakatabu’, which earned N202 million.
Ayo Makun ranked as the ninth highest-grossing Nollywood writer of 2024 with ‘The Waiter’, which earned N185 million while Tunde Babalola secured the 10th spot with ‘Funmilayo Ransom Kuti’ generating N157 million at the box office.
