FULL-LIST: ‘Shanty Town,’ ‘Underbelly’ win big at 2023 BON Awards

‘Shanty Town‘, a six-part series produced by Chinenye Nworah, was among the biggest winners at 2023 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards. 

BON is an annual ceremony held to honour outstanding achievements in the Nigerian movie industry.

The winners of the much-anticipated awards were announced on Friday, in Osogbo, Osun state capital.

‘Shanty Town,’ which was nominated in 15 out of the 29 categories, bagged five awards.

The awards include ‘Best Actress in English Movie’ (Ini Edo), ‘Best Use of Make-Up’, ‘Best Actor in an English Movie’ (Chidi Mokeme), and ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role English’ (Nse Npe Etim).

The crime thriller also won the ‘Movie of the Year’ category.

‘Underbelly,’ directed by Toka Mcbaror, also secured wins in five categories.

The BON Awards ceremony was first held in December 2009, in Ikeja, Lagos.

The annual event has been hosted in different states including Ogun, Oyo, Kogi, Kano, Ekiti, Delta, and Abia, among others.
