Abass Akande Obesere, the Nigerian Fuji star, has revealed that he survived a life-threatening surgery.

In a post on Instagram on Saturday, the singer shared a photo of himself on a hospital bed.

He disclosed that he underwent surgery that nearly claimed his life.

“I escaped a surgery that almost took my life,” Obesere wrote in part.

The post quickly garnered attention, with fans and colleagues sending their well wishes in the comment section.

Obesere, who survived a ghastly car accident in 2012 on his way to Lagos, has long been a staple in the Nigerian music scene.

Born in January 1965, Obesere is 59.

Popularly known as Omo Rapala, the singer gained fame through his distinctive music style and unique slang that captivated his audience.

He was initially signed to Sony Music but he later moved to other labels following payment disputes.

The music star is currently signed to Mayors Ville Entertainment.
