Floyd Mayweather, an American professional boxing promoter, says he is not engaged to Anna Monroe, his stripper girlfriend, as rumoured in some quarters.

The pair have been dominating the headlines in recent times, with several speculations swirling over the status of their relationship.

Last Sunday, Monroe had further sparked the engagement rumours after she flaunted a diamond ring — believed to be her engagement ring in an Instagram post.

The Sun UK also quoted a source as saying that the former professional boxer finally proposed to the 29-year-old Brit at his Las Vegas club Girl Collection last Saturday.

“Floyd was annoyed at first that news of their relationship broke because he wanted to keep it private,” the outlet had quoted the source as saying on Thursday.

“They had an argument about it but soon made up. And then he decided to pop the question on Saturday.

“Anna has told family and friends she’s getting married and wants to have a baby with Floyd this year.

“She hasn’t announced it on social media but everyone could see the huge rock on her hand on her latest Instagram snaps.

“Her family and friends have had their concerns about the relationship but she’s an adult, it’s her decision and they want her to be happy.”

But reacting in an Instagram post on Friday morning, the 43-year-old former boxer said such speculations are untrue.

“I’m not engaged and have never been engaged or married, those are just rumors and lies,”  he wrote.

Mayweather has been in several high-profile relationships in the past and also had children with different women including Josie Harris, an American actress, who died in March last year.
