With the advent of cinemas in Nigeria, movie producers have had a better shot at boosting revenues and limiting the activities of pirates in the industry.
In 2017, The Wedding Party 2, a film by Ebony Life Media, FilmOne Distribution, Inkblot Productions and Koga Studios, was the highest grossing movie.
According to Moses Babatope, group executive director of Filmhouse Cinemas, Nigerian movies have topped at the cinemas for the past seven weeks despite the presence of foreign blockbusters.
Babatope said King of Boys has accounted for 45 percent of the market share since it opened while almost 50 percent of Ghost and the Tout earnings came from the south-west.
